Fall Looks for Less

Hey everybody!

Today, I’ve decided to put together a fall looks for less edit. If you’re like me, season changes are a dangerous time for the wallet, so finding good quality, but affordable pieces is a must. I’m all for high-fashion, but I do get a bit frustrated sometimes when bloggers constantly show off their outfits that most of us can only dream of affording, without offering less-expensive alternatives. I mean, if you can recreate a high-fashion look on the cheap, why not?!

Anyway, I hope this post helps you find some great fall looks for less!

Lets dive in…

Plaid is huge this season, which is cool. I’ve always liked and worn plaid, mostly because its so cozy, but I also like that it’s an easy way to add a little edge or grunge to your look. This season you can find the print in every color, on skirts, dresses, pants, tops, everything.

Top skirt: Shopbop ($242.00)

Bottom skirt: Forever21 ($11.80)

You’ve probably been seeing the midi dress a lot recently. In my opinion, there’s something so interesting about midis because they’re casual, but elegant at the same time. I also think this length is flattering on almost every body type. These dresses here are awesome because if they were  shorter, they’d  look, well, a bit trashy maybe, but because they’re longer they look edgy and sophisticated.

Top dress: Shopbop ($385.00)

Bottom dress: Asos ($25.81)

These pieces are what inspired this post. I saw popular blogger Aimee Song (Song of Style) wearing these jeans in a few posts. I don’t think any pants should cost that much, unless they’re made out of pure gold, so I was excited to find this look for less! This skirt is definitely sporty, but I think it’s also a little bit retro, which is fun. Honestly, you could even re-create this look for even less $$ with your own jeans and patches. This would be a fun little project for the crafty ones out there, especially because you can pick your own patches!

Top pants: Net-a-Porter ($695.00)

Bottom skirt: Forever21 ($32.80)

If you’re one to follow trends, pink is in this season. Specifically dusty or pale pinks. I’m a fan of pastels and I actually think its unique to incorporate pretty pale colors into your fall wardrobe. It’s unexpected, just like these two pieces. The dress is much more understated than the leggings, but still interesting and unexpected. The similar print carries over to the leggings, which are such a fun way to play with the pink trend for fall. A print like this requires a solid color top, simple (or no) accessories and loads of confidence.

Top dress: Net-a-Porter ($1,665)

Bottom Leggings: Forever21 ($11.80)

Lastly, the teddy-bear fur jacket is in almost every store right now, usually in pretty pastels. I’m not sure how I feel about this one yet, although they do look suuuper cozy. I think these jackets could end up being too little-kid or sweet, but if you paired it with darker colors and interesting textures (like the leather pants in the bottom picture), it could be another cool way to use the pastel trend for fall.

Top jacket: Net-a-Porter ($8,250 – WHAT?!)

Bottom jacket: Forever21 ($34.80)

I hope this post was useful! So, for all those times you see a style icon of yours sporting something outrageously expensive that you love, it is very possible to recreate that look on your own budget. Be a style bandit – get creative, make a trend your own so it lasts beyond its expo-date & rock it with confidence!

Back In Action

I’m Back, fresh off a six hour drive from Maine! We spent five days in the charming town of Kennebunkport, which apparently is a really popular summer spot for people to visit. If you ever find yourself there – stay in one of the ADORABLE cottages at Cabot Cove. Seriously, our cottage was so cute & perfect we could’ve moved in permanently.

It was lots of fun – we ate a lot of lobster & shrimp… mmm. Our favorite places to eat were Mabel’s, Federal Jack’s and The Tides (kick ass Lobster Roll). Walking around town was really nice too – If anyone has ever been to Carmel-By-The-Sea, CA… Kennebunkport is like the Carmel of the East. Very story-book. There were lots of little shops (very touristy though), and I spent about an hour in The Copper Candle, a cute candle (duh) shop. We also took a day trip into Portland on one of our rainy days. Portland is pretty awesome – there were LOTS of little independent boutiques that we loved. One, Mexicali Blues, was our favorite. I bought a pretty tapestry for our apartment, a star lantern that goes with it and Zach bought a little traveling Buddha. Some of you may know that we have a little fur baby (our kitten)… well she is going to be getting a little furry friend soon (yay!) and so upon my urging, we decided to paint some food and water bowls for our animals. It was really a lot of fun and we can’t wait to see the finished products.

Anyway, since I haven’t posted in a while, I wanted to share a couple of things!

This was my ‘early morning road trip’ look – I clearly have the ‘I just woke up’ face goin’ on here, but I’m wearing the striped blazer that I posted about a little while ago. It was perfect for a long car ride because of the sweatshirt-y material – so comfy. The bag is a good size for long-weekend or shorter trips too & I think its so pretty. I got it from ASOS.

This outfit was from our day trip into Portland. The dress is an old one that I bought years ago from Topshop & the sweater is from Forever21. My feather necklace is, of course, Chloe & Isabel (I tried to zoom in on the photo so you can see how pretty it is 😉 ). I actually got a lot of compliments on it while we were walking around the city!

These are the aforementioned goodies I bought throughout my trip –

Where will you be going this summer? And what will you be wearing!

Obsession: Designer Edit

I don’t usually pay much attention to who designed what or designer labels. If I see something and like it, then that’s that. That all being said, sometimes I come across a designer/brand that I fall in love with. Today, that would be Three Floor. I am really diggin’ their dresses and I want at least three of them! I think they are so unique and different and would make such awesome statement pieces for anything from proms to Christmas parties. Actually I have my eye specifically on a few for my next holiday season…

I think a dress like any one of these is worth the splurge!

Bright Colors!!

Yesterday I told you about this awesome little boutique next to Gosman’s in Montauk and I want to show you the summer-perfect pieces I snagged there!

The dress is so bright and summery, it caught my eye immediately. It’s not too casual, but besides the color, the thing I love most is how easy it is – you can literally just throw it on and you’re good to go because it basically has a necklace attached to it already!

The blazer is awesome too because the material is like a sweatshirt/hoodie so it is sooo comfortable and makes it a casual blazer to throw over anything. I’ll probably live in it all the time because of how comfy it is.

I feel like both pieces are really unique and the best part – they were both well under $100!!! I’m a very happy camper & ready to wear all my brights this summer!

Weekend Out Of The City

Happy Friday everyone! I’m so happy to be getting a little break from NYC this weekend. The weather is finally starting to feel like summertime. Plus, days you can spend with a girlfriend, a stack of magazines poolside just soaking up the sun = perfect. Although I could do without the minor sunburn.

Anyway, we went to a great restaurant – one of the faves during summer- Gosman’s in Montauk. The sunsets there are ridiculous and its right on the water, aka too picturesque for words so I’ll stop trying to describe it. This is what we wore:

My top is from LF, shorts are from Forever21 & necklace is of course Chloe + Isabel.

Dana’s dress is also Forever21

Honestly, that place is very hit or miss. Sometimes you can search the racks for hours and feel like everything is so cheap a cocktail at the bar you wore the outfit to will last longer, but other times you can score such awesome pieces like these!

After dinner, we went to this cute little boutique right next to the restaurant and found the cutest blazer and dress (I will post a photo tomorrow!). After all, as Dana told me, “this is the summer of dresses and blazers!”
