Sweet Treat: 5 Ingredients Under 5
This recipe is actually so awesome, I just couldn’t wait to share it with you! This is like, the perfect dessert because it has the trifecta – healthy, quick & simple to make. You can literally throw this together in less than five minutes.
Raw Chocolate-Date Bites
Ingredients:
1 bag of whole, pitted dates (or about 2 cups)
1/3 cup almonds
1 tbsp. coconut oil
2 tbsp. cocoa powder (unsweetened, 100% cocoa)
1 tbsp. flax seeds (optional)
Instructions:
Soak the dates in hot water for 1-2 minutes, until softened.
While the dates soak, process almonds, flax seeds & coconut oil in a food processor.
Add the dates and cocoa powder to processor and grind until everything is combined well.
Pinch off about 1 tbsp. of mixture at a time and roll into balls using the palms of you hands. The mixture will make about 20 balls.
Place the balls onto a lined baking sheet and freeze until hardened.
These bite-size treats can be kept in the fridge for 1-2 weeks, and longer in the freezer.
2 pieces are approximately 145 calories. They are so rich and filled with nutritious & yummy ingredients, 2 will definitely be enough to satisfy a sweet tooth.
These may not be the prettiest sweets left as-is, but they taste fantastic – almost like a super-moist brownie bite. You could roll each ball in shredded coconut, chopped almonds or dip them in melted chocolate before freezing & give them as gifts during the holidays (as all the stores are reminding us the season of giving is swiftly approaching).
