Fall Looks for Less

Hey everybody!

Today, I’ve decided to put together a fall looks for less edit. If you’re like me, season changes are a dangerous time for the wallet, so finding good quality, but affordable pieces is a must. I’m all for high-fashion, but I do get a bit frustrated sometimes when bloggers constantly show off their outfits that most of us can only dream of affording, without offering less-expensive alternatives. I mean, if you can recreate a high-fashion look on the cheap, why not?!

Anyway, I hope this post helps you find some great fall looks for less!

Lets dive in…

Plaid is huge this season, which is cool. I’ve always liked and worn plaid, mostly because its so cozy, but I also like that it’s an easy way to add a little edge or grunge to your look. This season you can find the print in every color, on skirts, dresses, pants, tops, everything.

Top skirt: Shopbop ($242.00)

Bottom skirt: Forever21 ($11.80)

You’ve probably been seeing the midi dress a lot recently. In my opinion, there’s something so interesting about midis because they’re casual, but elegant at the same time. I also think this length is flattering on almost every body type. These dresses here are awesome because if they were  shorter, they’d  look, well, a bit trashy maybe, but because they’re longer they look edgy and sophisticated.

Top dress: Shopbop ($385.00)

Bottom dress: Asos ($25.81)

These pieces are what inspired this post. I saw popular blogger Aimee Song (Song of Style) wearing these jeans in a few posts. I don’t think any pants should cost that much, unless they’re made out of pure gold, so I was excited to find this look for less! This skirt is definitely sporty, but I think it’s also a little bit retro, which is fun. Honestly, you could even re-create this look for even less $$ with your own jeans and patches. This would be a fun little project for the crafty ones out there, especially because you can pick your own patches!

Top pants: Net-a-Porter ($695.00)

Bottom skirt: Forever21 ($32.80)

If you’re one to follow trends, pink is in this season. Specifically dusty or pale pinks. I’m a fan of pastels and I actually think its unique to incorporate pretty pale colors into your fall wardrobe. It’s unexpected, just like these two pieces. The dress is much more understated than the leggings, but still interesting and unexpected. The similar print carries over to the leggings, which are such a fun way to play with the pink trend for fall. A print like this requires a solid color top, simple (or no) accessories and loads of confidence.

Top dress: Net-a-Porter ($1,665)

Bottom Leggings: Forever21 ($11.80)

Lastly, the teddy-bear fur jacket is in almost every store right now, usually in pretty pastels. I’m not sure how I feel about this one yet, although they do look suuuper cozy. I think these jackets could end up being too little-kid or sweet, but if you paired it with darker colors and interesting textures (like the leather pants in the bottom picture), it could be another cool way to use the pastel trend for fall.

Top jacket: Net-a-Porter ($8,250 – WHAT?!)

Bottom jacket: Forever21 ($34.80)

I hope this post was useful! So, for all those times you see a style icon of yours sporting something outrageously expensive that you love, it is very possible to recreate that look on your own budget. Be a style bandit – get creative, make a trend your own so it lasts beyond its expo-date & rock it with confidence!

Draped & Gold

Sometimes inspiration comes out of nowhere & to me, that’s one of the best feelings ever. I love when I’m just minding my own business, doing whatever it is at that moment and then stumbling upon something by chance that just totally sticks with you.

The other day, I was walking to work and I swear, I saw not one, not two, but THREE amazing drape-y skirts. And since that moment, I’ve been going through a bit of a drape-y skirt obsession! Because I do not have one of my own (yet!), I decided instead to put together this style set. I used three different draped skirts – (from left to right) one is styled for the fancy chick who likes to attend swanky events, one is styled for the casual chick who likes to look good while running errands, and one is styled for the chick who loves a good party. Screen shot 2013-07-11 at 6.16.43 PM

I also decided to use the Chloe & Isabel Metal Bib Statement Necklace for all three looks. I’ve probably talked about how C&I jewelry is perfect because you can literally wear it with anything, but the proof is in the pudding here! I could’ve gone with a quieter necklace, but I liked the contrast between the sharp gold metal (that almost looks like scales or armor) and the soft drapes of the skirts. I also picked these yellow shoes because, well, you could go with a similar gold strappy heel, but that would just be too expected! The yellow is bolder than gold, but it still goes with each of these three looks.

Tan skirt: Rick Owens Lilies 3/4 Skirt

Black Skirt: Rose Drape Skirt

Grey Skirt: IRO Draped Cotton Skirt

Gold Necklace: Chloe & Isabel

Heels: River Island
